Authors can add Drill Downs to Activity shapes from the Edit Map Screen
Drill Downs allow you to navigate around a multi-level process map, you can add them to Activity shapes enabling you to open a link to another map.
As standard, only Authors and Admins can manage Drill Downs.
Add a Drill Down
- Authors can add Drill Downs from the Edit Map Screen, this is accessed by creating a new Process Map or creating a draft Process Map.
- Add more information to Activity shapes by linking to another Process Map using drill downs. To add a Drill Down, right-click on the shape and select Edit Drill Down from the list that appears.
- This will take you the Edit Map Screen where you can create a new Process Map which is named after the Activity you created the drill down from. This is your lower level map.
When adding a Drill Down you cannot link to an existing map and must create a new map.
- Once you have finished drafting your lower level map you must lock it for approval. Once the lower level map has been approved you can lock your higher level map for approval.
Do not lock your higher level map for approval before your lower level map has been published.
- When you view your Level 1 map in the library the level will be displayed in the top left corner and Activities which have a drill down attached will have a shadow behind them.
- To navigate the drill downs double click on the relevant Activity. This Process Map will be labelled Level 2.
- You can navigate back up a level by clicking on the arrow in the top left corner of the map. Clicking on this arrow will bring up a list of all the Process Map this map is linked to, click on the name of the Process Map you want to navigate back to.
- You can repeat this process to add a new Drill Down to any activity shape.
Edit a Drill Down
- To edit a drill down, create a draft of the lower level Process Map and edit it.
Draft maps for lower level Process Maps are created in exactly the same way as all other Process Maps. For more information see: Create a Draft Process Map.
Delete a Drill Down
- To delete a drill down delete the lower level Process Map.
Lower level Process Maps can be deleted in exactly the same way as all other Process Maps. For more information see: Delete a Process Map.
- This will automatically remove the Drill Down from the upper level Process Map.
